Fort Sam Houston Independent School District is happy to announce Mr. René Gómez as the new Principal of the Fort Sam Houston Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Gomez is a graduate of West Texas A&M University and comes to our district with 14 years of experience in education. He has extensive classroom experience as an elementary teacher at various grade levels teaching ESL and Bilingual Education in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Houston, Texas.
For the past six years, Mr. Gómez has worked in the nearby Alamo Heights Independent School District as a campus administrator. He served as the Assistant Principal at Woodridge Elementary School for three years and has been Assistant Principal for Alamo Heights Junior High since 2019.
When asked about his new adventure in FSHISD, Mr. Gómez said, “I am truly very thankful for this new leadership opportunity. I look forward to serving this district, the staff and our students. Working with all our military families to continue to make our school a safe and welcoming place where students succeed is something I am ready to be a part of. My wife, son and daughter are feeling very blessed and excited about me serving as the new Principal of Fort Sam Houston Elementary.” Congratulations, Mr. Gómez.
